I have been working all grade levels, and have SO MUCH to share! I have decided that I'll start with showcasing my work with the Kindergarteners and then work my way up. Wait until you see what these little guys and girls have been up to!
We have already done a ton since the school year has started! The kids started the year familiarizing themselves with the iPads and going over our rituals and routines. They pretty much already knew what they were doing since most of them have their own iPads at home! We used
Google Earth to find our school, which was SO exciting for all of them. We then learned how to pan, zoom in, zoom out, and tilt the screen. It was a great benchmark lesson that I refer to now when we are shrinking or zooming in on items.
On my next rotation the Kindergarteners and I used the app
Educreations to create a "book" where they described their fives senses and the matching sensory organ. It was a lot to take on because the students were taking pictures, drawing, and recording their voices... but they finished them and they're adorable! Look at this little one below...
Another great app that I used with the kindergarteners is called
Geoboard. This app is just like a real geoboard, but it allows the students to get really creative and prove their learning! Before each lesson the teachers let me know what topic they would like to focus on... this time it was on making shapes. I walked the students through using the app, of course letting them play a little bit before getting down to work. They had a great time creating the shapes they had been learning about! Currently I am using the app
Shutterbugs to introduce the students to different action verbs that animals can perform. It is a really cute app that keeps them totally engaged! They can even save coloring sheets to the camera roll and color them in Educreations! There are just tons of possibilities!
I know this has been a long post, but we have been going crazy with technology in Kindergarten! They are so amazing!
